LessonBuddy's site describes a five-level skills matrix and DL25-style fault records, but it doesn't say the skills follow the DVSA syllabus. DriveSchoolPro tracks the official 27 skills in 8 categories, and pupils see their own progress in their portal.

"Not listed" means we could not find the feature on LessonBuddy's public website on 8 October 2026. It may exist. We use "Not listed" rather than "No" so we never say a competitor lacks something we haven't seen them say. If anything here is out of date, email info@driveschoolpro.com and we'll correct it.
Where DriveSchoolPro differs
These are the differences that exist today, from the table above.
- Progress tracking built on the DVSA frameworkDriveSchoolPro tracks the official 27 skills across 8 categories. LessonBuddy's site describes a five-level skills matrix but doesn't say it follows the DVSA syllabus.
- Lesson prep written for youBefore each lesson, DriveSchoolPro writes a short briefing from your last notes and the pupil's skill ratings, using Claude. We couldn't find an equivalent on LessonBuddy's site.
- Review requests at the right momentWhen a pupil passes, they appear on your Today screen with a Google review request ready to send. It's prompted, not automatic: you decide whether to send it.
- Clash checks and vehicle trackingBookings are checked against the pupil, the instructor and the vehicle together, and MOT, tax and insurance dates are tracked with alerts.
- Free while in early accessDriveSchoolPro has no subscription fee until 31 March 2027 and doesn't ask for a card. From 1 April 2027 there's a permanent Free plan (1 instructor, up to 60 lessons a month), Solo at £22 a month, or School at £22 a month plus £10 per extra instructor, with no VAT charged.
What DriveSchoolPro doesn't do yet
DriveSchoolPro has no parent login, no way to publish a cancelled slot to chosen pupils, and no test-centre route library, all of which LessonBuddy lists. Lesson reminders go out by email only for now (WhatsApp is coming soon), recording test bookings and results is coming soon, and we don't offer free bulk migration of your records yet. If any of these decides it for you, that's a fair reason to choose LessonBuddy.

DriveSchoolPro vs LessonBuddy — common questions
In LessonBuddy, yes: its site says parents can view lessons, progress and test-readiness information. DriveSchoolPro doesn't have a separate parent login yet. Pupils can show a parent their own portal in the meantime.
Yes. LessonBuddy describes one app for instructors, pupils, parents and schools on iOS and Android, and lists Android Auto support. DriveSchoolPro is on the App Store and Google Play too: you run your diary from it, and your pupils use the same app, or any web browser, to see their lessons and progress.
We've tried to make it one. The LessonBuddy column only records what LessonBuddy's own public website says, checked on 8 October 2026. Where we couldn't find a feature we say "Not listed", not "No". We don't quote LessonBuddy's prices because they change, so use their own pricing page. The gaps in DriveSchoolPro are set out above. If you spot an error, email info@driveschoolpro.com and we'll correct it.
No. Keep your current diary running alongside DriveSchoolPro until you're confident everything's in. There's no big switch-over day, and it's free until 31 March 2027 with no card required.
